New Kitchen

Besides some finishing touches, the kitchen is done! It is so awesome, perfect, wonderful.... So far the only down fall of our new kitchen is that there is no excuse to eat out anymore. The project took about 6 weeks - wow!

Having fun in the new kitchen.

Brock 'helping' bake cookies...well, if you consider scarfing down cookie dough by the handfuls helping.

New Tricks

The boys both have new tricks! Theo is now sitting - he has been a little tippy for the last 3 weeks or so, but now he has it down. He is quite proud of this new accomplishment. He can also get his whole body off the ground in push up stance for brief moments. I find this to be very impressive since he must weigh at least 20lbs!

Brock got a scooter from us for his birthday. It's no suprise he mastered it in no time. And of course it wasn't good enough to just ride it around like a normal child - he always finds a way to make things more thrilling - he attempts jumps and enjoys riding over ice and snow. The other day we were scooting by a huge flat bed truck that was tilted up about 15 ft high to unload a tractor (there is construction on our street). As we scooted by Brock said 'I could ride my scooter down that ramp'. And I have no doubt that if left unattended he would try! He must have Cory's dare devil genes! Thank goodness for helmets!

First Day of Preschool!

Brock had his first day of Preschool this week! For months I have been STRESSING over preschool – finding the right one, when to start him, leaving my baby for the first time with someone other than grandma, letting go…YES, I became slightly crazy over this whole preschool thing! I don’t even want to think about what I will be like when I’m sending him off to college!

I found a school that I just love and a teacher that is amazing! I’ve been on a list there for 3 years and we just got a spot. We talked to Brock a lot about preschool trying to gear him up for the first day. He sounded excited, but I wasn’t so sure how the first day would go. On his first day he went running in and began playing. I hung out for a while – surely he would burst into tears at any moment…right?? Finally, I decided to go. The teacher didn’t outright tell me to go, but she gave me some hints…’looks like he is adapting just fine’ (i.e. you can leave!). I told Brock I was going to work and I’d be back later. He said good bye and gave me a look like ‘will you please leave already’! I stewed in my office all day and was desperate to go pick him up when 3:30pm came around. Cory and I met to pick him up. We walked into a dark room with little bodies laying around taking naps, but heard our little non-sleeper Brock giggling in the back. I thought he would be desperately waiting for us to pick him up, but instead he looked disappointed to see us. He didn’t want to go! It turns out he stayed up with the Kindergarteners and skipped nap time – not surprising at all! He told my mom later that he ‘pretended to take a nap at thirty O’clock’. What a goof! The teacher said he did great all day - using the potty, making friends, playing, etc.! She said she really tried to get him to nap, but finally gave up - I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I’m sure there might be bad drop off days in the future, but I’m so glad the first day went smooth! Right now he is just going twice a week.

I snapped a couple really quick and not very good shots of his first moments at school.

One second after arriving he was playing with these animals with a couple other boys.

4 Month Pictures

More fantastic photos by Johnstone Studios. I couldn't pick the cutest pictures to post because they are ALL so darn adorable. She even got some shots of the two boys, even though Brock was being his usual stinker in front of the camera. He was probably only in shooting range for about 5 seconds total and she managed to get great shots. I even tried bribery to get him to cooperate for at least one photo, but he wasn't having it. Theo on the other hand was a perfect subject.

Happy New Year...and New Kitchen!

Happy New Year everyone! 2009 was so good to us...we will miss you, but we are looking forward to 2010! We hope 2010 brings you lots of fun!

I've mentioned our kitchen chaos a couple times so I thought I would post some pictures.

The original kitchen. I will not miss our old kitchen! I certainly don't need the fanciest kitchen and I could have lived with the funky 60's tile, but the drawers, cabinets and stove that didn't work had to go! Bye, bye old kitchen!

After demolition!

We took out the wall from our living room to kitchen - it already feels so much brighter! We have actually made a lot of progress since these photos. We are done with electrical, lighting, patching, drywall and texturing...now were ready for paint!

You might have guessed, we are doing all the work ourselves. My brother came up for a week and was a HUGE help. Brock is also a big helper. He made about 50 trips from the kitchen to the trailer during demo with Brock-sized garbage. The work crew!

Brock took these photos of Cory and Art. Funny to see us from his perspective.
