Kindergarten

What a year! Brock rocked Kindergarten and now he is moving on to the First grade! Brock amazed me almost daily with what he was learning, his journal entries, his reading and his passion for learning. Some highlights from the year:
- A student of the month award for his accomplishments in science
- An award winning science project on water and evaporation (yes, his class got first place at his school and they moved on to regionals)
- Making some wonderful friends - Ray is the best friend
- Fun field trips to the water treatment facility and UNR
- Talent show, jog-a-thon, chili fest, and more...
- Having a first class teacher, Ms. Osayande who pushed these kids to the limit and ran a tight ship. 'Taking Care of Business' was their motto and they did it and sang it every day :)
- Doing homework (lots) every day - most of the time Brock did his homework with no help from me. We learned about halfway through the year that mommy helping with homework made things painful for us all for some reason. It became his routine to do homework first thing in the morning. I loved coming downstairs to find him in the office with the light on, his little legs dangling from the office chair, snuggled in a blanket, and working very hard on his homework.
- Graduation concert - fun singing and a cute video of the kids. Brock was not that into singing, but he was into the cupcakes :)
- I asked Brock what his favorite part of Kindergarten was and he said, "Math"

Brock we are so very proud of you! We love you so much!

Brock wrote up step 2 of his class science project. He told me he picked it because it was the longest :)

Memorial Day Weekend

Our friends the Cropper's and Goodman's joined us at the cabin - our first official guests besides my parents! I think the theme of the weekend was fishing - not much luck but we sure did try. The boys all get along great and had a blast just playing. Such awesome boys we have! Fun weekend with great friends. Oh, and the ladies went to the Chester craft fair to stock up on jalapeno jelly and hang with the locals...we have officially become our mothers :)

We drive through Susanville on the way to the cabin and main street was lined with flags. It was fun explaining to Brock the reason for this long weekend we call Memorial Day. We thank all the people of our country who have served or who are serving!

PS honey, that jacket needs to go. I'm thinking a campfire accident would do the trick!
