Moms on the Run

Mom and I celebrated Mom's Day by doing a local race to benefit women in our community who have cancer. We walked in memory of my grandma Ardis and in honor our dear friend Amanda - two amazing ladies. We are very serious racers as you can see by the pictures below... Walking Along... Are those cute boys watching us... Oh, hi cute boys... Sure, we will pose for a pic... Okay, now back to racing! My mom is the most amazing woman I know - she absolutely spoils us with her love and time. We are one blessed family to have a mom like her. Thank you mom, I love you!

Lamb Marking

Well it probably wouldn't rank too high on the little lambs list, but we had the best time helping our friends with lamb marking. Our good friends from college, Mike and Erin, just moved back to the area to take on their family business of raising sheep. These are all free range sheep roaming Nevada and California with hearders and they are gathered periodically for shearing, marking etc. What an interesting life...I learned so much this weekend about the whole process. The area was absolutely beautiful...if you haven't learned to love the desert you are truly missing out! We camped in an area called Bull Flat and we were surrounded by sheep, lambs, and all kinds of other critters, a beautful creek, and old corals. This was our favorite lamb "Fuzzy". Of course, Brock named him. In the morning, Brock would say 'mom, let's go say good morning to Fuzzy'. We would have to check on him all day.
Our camping spot! These are the dogs that protect the sheep - huge!
Cory just jumped right in with the marking. Brock didn't seem to mind the blood. His 'job' was to heard the little lambs back to thier moms and he did this for a long time on his dirt bike.
Playing in the creek. Theo and Eliza!
Yikes, a scorpion. Brock named him 'venom'
