Race Day

Yesterday we woke up to a few inches of snow and it was coming down hard. We debated not going to Cory's first enduro race of the season, but decided to go for it. It turns out that about 60 miles east of Reno in the middle of the desert it was a beautiful day! Muddy, but beautiful! This is the first race that Brock and I have been to - we were the trusty pit crew - although it is a little hard to fill gas when watching a baby. We all had a blast. Brock is pretty much happy where ever there are new things to be learned. Cold, snow, mud, he doesn't care - he loves it! The video is of the second start. The racers start in three groups a couple minutes apart (novice, amateur, and expert). They took off and headed straight for a giant mountain. While Cory raced we had fun hanging out with the family next to us. This was a fifty mile race and Cory came in SECOND in his class! Go Cory!

Look out!

The race scene! 10 miles of dirt roads and then you come to this village of racers.

Getting ready.

We hung out a lot in the back of the truck because the mud was so bad.

The pit - where racers come to gas up, change goggles and make repairs between laps.

Pre race meeting.

Finished! Just a little muddy!

Giant lake/mud pit that was part of the course.

Spinning

Last week at music Brock began spinning to the music - over and over again until he fell right over! Here is a cute video of Brock and Dad spinning together. Notice what Brock does at the end, pinches his Dad and then says "ouch" - what a goof!

Nevada Caucuses

Today was a fun day! I participated in the democratic caucus in Nevada - a first for our State. It was a bit crazy, but everyone was in great spirits and having a blast.

Brock has continued to keep us running this week! Yes, that is right, he has started to run and walk backwards...not the brightest idea since he is still getting the hang of walking :) He has also been climbing on everything...coffee table, car (which is meant to be pushed), and just the other day I came around the corner to find him lounging in his dump truck. He also likes to do what we are doing and as you can see that includes sweeping.

New Digs

Thought the AK crew would like these pictures of Brock's first pair of Carhartt overalls!

Brock is looking a little beat up - from his fall in the snow! But he is all better now, just a small bruise on his cheek left.

Snow!

We have been blasted with one storm after the other since Friday. Things have calmed down, but we have about a foot of snow now! Brock has been greatly enjoying the snow. He doesn't seem to mind the cold one bit - must be that AK blood. And we have found another perk, besides the views, to hill top living - sledding! Brock and Cory got some real speed and I just tried not to worry to much. Brock did take a face plant on the snow this afternoon and has his most serious injury to date. His nose, cheek, and forehead have scratches - poor baby. His face is bruised but not his spirit - still going as strong as ever!

Tons of Fun

The world is nothing but fun through Brock's eyes. I try to look through them as much as possible. I have found a new love for reading children's books (I get into the voices and animal sounds like a champ) and I really enjoy playing with legos and cars...anyways back to Brock. Here are some fun pictures from his week of fun.

Brock's friend Conner came over this week to play. They had a blast together. Brock was pushing Conner around on the car.

Fun with bubbles - if you look really close you can see Brock's teeth - really close!

It is dumping snow as we speak. Tonight we went for a sled ride around the neighborhood.

Don't eat the yellow snow Brock!

Grandma took these pictures of Brock playing in a shoe box. He would drag it around, climb in and out, and slide down the side. Did we mention we have the best daycare in the world - THANK YOU GRANDMA AND PA!

Here is Brock helping with the dishes (his favorite chore) and wearing nothing but his cool hat.

Bet they don't have this ride at Disneyland - All it takes is Dad and a blanket!
