Little House Projects

If we had no kids this project would have taken just a few hours...instead it took a few days...actually we have been talking about it for years! But Brock helped me paint it one day and he did a fantastic job. I should have taken a before photo. It had dark dirty bricks with a big block of wood for a mantel. New, bright, beautiful!

Recovered some pillows for the camper. The fabric was only a 1.50/yard at my favorite fabric store so this project cost only a few dollars and an hour on the sewing machine :)Before and after.

Visitors

Back to back visitors at the Jennings House! Sadly, I have no pictures. Our camera stopped working and so I went a week without one - of course it was our fun visitor week.

First my aunt Cathy who the boys absolutely love! Cathy who raised two boys of her own(and could possibly be a three year old boy trapped in a __ year old woman's body...I won't put her real age, but it's around 29) clearly knows her stuff when it comes to little boy fun! She is a pro! Fun things we did with Cathy:
- Went to the park and hiking
- Made forts
- Played legos
- Played in the yard
- Had a movie night and ate popcorn
- Went to pizza
- Made the cutest Mother's Day card for me
and on, and on, and on....

A day after Cathy left, Papa J arrived! We didn't tell the boys he was coming and Brock was SO excited to have him here. Fun things we did with Papa J:
- Cooked a whole fish
- Built a shed
- Played outside
- Threw rocks in the truckee river - lots of rocks!
- Legos
- And on and on....Papa J even changed a few diapers while he was here...very impressive!

Cathy and Papa J - Thank you so much for making the long trip to Reno. We love having you here - come ANY time! One picture of Papa J and Theo eating breakfast. I'm so sad about my lack of pictures.

Brock and Theoisms

We have to add Theo to the 'isms' list - he is a talking fool these days! They keep us entertained all day long with their shenanigans!

Brock:

Last night as we were cuddling before bed time Brock said to me, "Tomorrow I'm going to get up early becuase I have lots of busy things to do in the morning"

One of our pear treas didn't survive a transplant and so I was taking it out. Brock was concerned and I told him we could plant a new tree. I asked him what kind of tree we should plant. "Um, how about a dried fruit tree" he replied. Then he suggested a few other trees that would never survive here - like mango.

Brock has one pair of overalls that we use every once in awhile for painting. He was helping me with a house project and had them on, and he said, "Mom, aren't these good over-everywheres I have on"

Today we were at the park and I told Brock we had to go soon because mommy had to go potty. He thought about it and said, 'mom, you could just pee on a tree like I do' I had to explain how it isn't as socially acceptable for mommy to pee on a tree.

I love Brock's 'mature' taste in music. Almost every night after bath we have a dance party and rock out to some tunes. The other night I thought I would put on some 'kid' music for a change because usally we just listen to what mommy likes. Brock instantly said, 'I don't want this mom, I want Michael Franti...or Dynamite (taio cruz)'. Am I a bad mom for being so glad my kids like to listen to 'real' music? Phew....no mary had a little lamb in this house!

Theo:

Theo says (or tries to say) everything we do. Some of my favorite little sayings.

I wana bitamin (vitamin)

He always adds a 'hey' when getting your attention, 'hey mommy', 'hey pa', 'hey Bock'

'mommy, I wana dance poty' (we have dance parties almost every night after baths)

The other day I told him it was time to get dressed and he said, 'no, not yet'

Brock gets the biggest kick out of Theo talking. Theo will say something and Brock will be shocked and say, 'how did he say that?' One of Brock's favorite things is to tell Theo to say certain things. The other day he decided he would teach Theo some words that I don't really like....ah yes, the potty talk...literally. The boys were laughing hysterically in the back room and as I came down the hall I could hear Brock saying, 'Theo, say poopy head', 'say farty fart' - Theo would of course say it and then they would both giggle uncontrollably. Why is it so funny to talk about pooping and farting?

Virginia City Grand Prix

Last weekend Cory raced, along with 600 other riders, in the Virginia City Grand Prix. With at least a couple thousand spectators, Virginia City, was crazy! The start was right on main street and they had to race 4 hours. Cory finished, but was exhausted! The boys and I were the cheer leaders and hung out in VC while Cory raced. Our friends Mike and Sarah came up to watch too. Fun day!

The front foot rest of the single BOB makes a perfect little seat for Brock, but Theo then enjoys kicking him. So I taught Brock to pin his legs down and it worked beautifully...ha! The double just wouldn't cut it in this crowd.

Easter at the Beach

We celebrated Easter at the beach this year. It was a quick trip, but we had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Easter was really fun this year with Brock and Theo. They both enjoyed hunting for eggs. Brock was hiding and finding eggs all weekend long! We walked down to Capitola Village (mainly because we were headed to the beach anyways) to do the egg hunt they organize on the beach. This is the first time we have done an organized egg hunt. As much as I try to embrace the kids stuff...I just can't get into crowding around a feild of eggs (not hidden) and have hundreds of kids and thier parents race to pick them up....sorry, but I can't! Brock was totally not impressed either, so I'm glad we are on the same page! It is hard to believe people come from all over, brave the crowds, and take up a whole morning to do that. You couldn't pay me! I loved when the parents were freaking out after the hunt when their kids were getting wet and sandy at the beach...imagine that! Hilarious. Sorry for my little rant about egg hunts :)

The favorite things to do at the beach this trip were playing in the river and tide pools. Stomping on the sand cliffs to get the sand to fall in the river was a big hit and a little scary :) Then Brock spent hours in the tide pools pretending it was his aquarium and taking great care that each creature had food and was happy - so cute! Theo just liked stomping through tiny pools of warm water - just his size.
