Introducing Sonny

Sonny arrived on on August 27th weighing about 3 pounds and suprise, suprise, it's a boy! A couple weeks ago I came home from work to find a yard full of string and a sweet little orange kitty greeting me. Turns out this little kitty had been playing with Brock all day and guess what? He is still here! He had no collar, was a bit skinny and dirty - and is the greatest cat! Despite the constant abuse from Brock and Theo he doesn't leave, in fact, he loves them for some strange reason! Brock first named him Bob, but then changed his name to Sonny. We have grown very attached to Sonny and he is here to stay. Yesterday, Brock and I dropped him at the vet to get neutered (sorry Sonny). Brock was so sweet telling Sonny it would be okay and would pick him up later. Later, when he was home, Brock noticed his 'ouchy' and asked
'why does Sonny have a cut on his bottom'
me -'Well, he had to have a little surgery at the vet'
Brock - 'why'
me - 'So that he can't make more babies'
Brock -'But he is a boy he can't have babies'
Oh geeez. here we go, Luckily, Brock was satisfied with my answer that it takes a boy and a girl to make a baby for now. Then a few minutes later he burst into tears about Sonny's ouchy and that he doesn't want him to be hurt. Such a sweet sweet boy I have!

Ring Bearer Extraordinaire

Really the title of this post should be something about the fabulous wedding of my cousin Kevin and his wife Crystal! They had an amazing wedding in Del Mar and they didn't miss a single detail from the flowers, to the donuts (yes, donuts) to the most adorable ring bearer EVER! You might have guessed that the ring bearer was our very own Brock. We have talked A LOT about the special job of a ring bearer, but given the unpredictable nature of a 3 year old (and especially ours) we weren't totally sure how it would go. Brock wasn't that into the rehersal, but he looked me right in the eye and sternly said, "Mom, I'll do it tomorrow". And that he did! As soon as he saw Kevin in his suit he was in a rush to get dressed, hang out with the 'big' boys, and walk the sweet little flower girls down the aisle. The rest of our trip was spent visiting GG, family, our first horse race, playing at the beach and swimming - lots of swimming! Sadly, I don't have many pictures of the lovely bride and groom - I was too distracted by the cute ring bearer.

Camping at Burney Falls

If you haven't been to Burney - you should go! We had a great time camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, and biking at Burney McArthur State Park. This area is absolutely amazing - we will be going back next year for sure. Camping with a toddler and a 'baby' is exhausting, but so fun too. Brock would just randomly say, "I'm so excited to be camping at Burney Falls" or "I think we should go camping at Burney again soon, but not during the balloon races" - very sweet. Look Out World

After a short tantrum becuase my car was stuck and no one would help me...I decided to show you all how good I am at walking! I know...I know... my mom is always talking about how easy going I am...but I saw my brother doing this 'lay with your face down on the dirty kitchen floor and whine' move once, so I thought I would give it a try...I wasn't really serious.

More Camping

We just returned from an 8 day camping trip at Zepher Cove. We had the boys for four days, did some commuting home and back, and then Cory and I ended the week child free to celebrate our 7th anniversary. My parents made their first solo trip with the boys to the beach house, while Cory and I relaxed in Tahoe. The first half of the week was wonderfully chaotic and fun and the last part was wonderfully relaxing! The perfect combination!
Beach, beach, beach!

The chipmunks were very brave and chubby in this campground. Brock and Cory set up this trap and used graham crackers to bait them - a few close calls but no success.

Making a serious mess of some mac n cheese.

I don't even think the Victoria's Secret models could top this pose!

This is the reaction I get when I try to take a picture of Brock - the little stinker gives me the hand or the dirtiest look you've ever seen.

Cory and I did some kayaking and biking, but mostly we just did this! I don't remember the last time I relaxed on the beach - it was so weird!

Happy First Birthday!!!

Theo Patrick Jennings turned the big O-N-E last week! Yes, I know, this post is so late! Never would I have let a birthday post slip by for over a week with my first born!
I have already apologized to Theo and he has agreed to let me make up some of this neglect when Brock leaves for college! It is so hard for me to believe that just a year ago we were admiring our sweet newborn and now he is a big one year old. The time has just flown by! We feel so blessed to have Mr. T in our lives! Things he is up to at one year old:

- Living Large, not sure how big yet, but he is a big boy and wearing 24 month clothes for the most part.

- Stepping, not walking, but taking steps – the record is five. He has been standing on his own for months but is taking to walking with caution.

- Talking, his ‘words’ at one are: ‘Uh oh’, ‘Hmmmm’, ‘Bow’(either brother or Brock), ‘Ba’(ball), ‘Brrrmmmm’(car noise), ‘Eye’ (light), ‘ah da’( all done) and probably a couple others. He loves to point at things and yell (he does with this gusto)! I think this is his way of saying ‘what’s that?’ – its pretty hilarious.

- Being easy, Theo is still so easy going. He is and always has been a FANTASTIC sleeper! He is just a quick tickle from a good laugh and never disappoints with the smiles.

- Making teeth – our easy going guy was a bit disturbed by the arrival of two new teeth this past week. The top two middle teeth arrived and they are big ones! He was a little crabby (some days a lot crabby) during the day – but still a great sleeper. 4 teeth all together!

- Busy, he is a busy boy. Loves to put things into other things and stack. He is always up to something.

- Cuddling! I love how he still falls asleep in my arms – the perfect time for me to stare at him, cover him with kisses and smell his sweet little head without him fighting back.

- Water boy – Theo loves the water (just like his big bro)! He will crawl right into Lake Tahoe without hesitation – brrrrr!

We love you Theo – Happy Birthday! Thanks to everyone for the first birthday wishes you sent our way and for helping us celebrate!

Summer Time Fun

Summer arrived late, so we are soaking in all sun and heat we can handle - it will be gone before we know it. We pretty much live in our back yard! Our pool is tiny, Theo loves it and Brock finds ways to make it more fun (and dangerous) by sprinting across the yard and skidding head first in to it or putting his slide in and going down every which way. We also have a bull frog in the hood who enjoys a swim. Brock became so obsessed with the frog we finally had to hide him away in the garden - it was his only chance of survival. We have done lots of beach time at Tahoe and Donner and even made a trip to the water park. Despite oodles of sunscreen both the boys have golden tans, looks like they take after us. We love summer!
