Moms on the Run

Mom and I celebrated Mom's Day by doing a local race to benefit women in our community who have cancer. We walked in memory of my grandma Ardis and in honor our dear friend Amanda - two amazing ladies. We are very serious racers as you can see by the pictures below... Walking Along... Are those cute boys watching us... Oh, hi cute boys... Sure, we will pose for a pic... Okay, now back to racing! My mom is the most amazing woman I know - she absolutely spoils us with her love and time. We are one blessed family to have a mom like her. Thank you mom, I love you!

Lamb Marking

Well it probably wouldn't rank too high on the little lambs list, but we had the best time helping our friends with lamb marking. Our good friends from college, Mike and Erin, just moved back to the area to take on their family business of raising sheep. These are all free range sheep roaming Nevada and California with hearders and they are gathered periodically for shearing, marking etc. What an interesting life...I learned so much this weekend about the whole process. The area was absolutely beautiful...if you haven't learned to love the desert you are truly missing out! We camped in an area called Bull Flat and we were surrounded by sheep, lambs, and all kinds of other critters, a beautful creek, and old corals. This was our favorite lamb "Fuzzy". Of course, Brock named him. In the morning, Brock would say 'mom, let's go say good morning to Fuzzy'. We would have to check on him all day.
Our camping spot! These are the dogs that protect the sheep - huge!
Cory just jumped right in with the marking. Brock didn't seem to mind the blood. His 'job' was to heard the little lambs back to thier moms and he did this for a long time on his dirt bike.
Playing in the creek. Theo and Eliza!
Yikes, a scorpion. Brock named him 'venom'

Easter

First, a little April Fool's trick we played on Daddy. Brock loves playing tricks!
Dying eggs, hunting in the morning...we did get dressed up for church later and had a nice dinner with my parents too. Brock called easter, 'the best day ever'!

Jennings Boy-isms

I wish I wrote them all down daily, I hate that I can't remember these fun conversations just days later.

Brock: He says everything like such a big boy and so scientifically. I told him he was so smart the other day and he said, 'yup, little head, big brain' I think that should be his tag line :)

Theo was in the middle of taking his shirt off outside and telling me he needed 'sun on his belly' and Brock said 'yeah mom, we need our shirts off because our bodies need Vitamin D'

We were driving past the Mormon Temple (it has a gold statue on the top) and Brock said, 'Mom, look it's C3PO blowing a horn'.

Cory was reading a book to Brock that has answers to all kinds of questions that kids ask. Of course, Brock quickly (on his own) answers why you couldn't dig to the other side of the earth and what makes a rainbow. Bored with these lame questions :) he asks 'is there a question on why bunnies have sharp teeth'? Um, couldn't find that one in the book.

I was telling Brock that our friends just had their new baby girl and Brock says, 'Wow, they are gonna have a lot of babies at their house' I told him that they just had the one new baby, but then he says 'Well now they have three girls and they are all going to have babies'. Then we got into this unexpected conversation (picture me inserting my foot in my mouth) about how it takes a boy and a girl to have a baby, oh lordy, somehow I got out of it with out sharing too much detail...I'm just not ready for that quite yet.

Theo: The best part of conversations with Theo are his facial expressions - tilting head, funny eye rolls, and funny little looks - he is quite the comedian. He is also known for his super random questions and commentary.

Theo has finally realized I have a name besides 'Mommy'. The other night we were saying goodnights and he put his arm around me and said, 'Goodnight Enid'. Yesterday he asked me, 'Mommy, is your name Enid'?

The other day he asked, 'Mommy, do you love Arthur'? I, of course, said I did and then he says, 'I love Arthur too, he's the best'

Today he was telling me 'Mom is there a light balb in that fan' and 'yesterday I saw an american flag' - okeedokie!

He is obsessed with Pa and is always asking 'where's pa' 'Is pa at mama's house' 'I love pa'

And now for the GRAND FINALE! The best is listening to their conversations with eachother. This one is borderline TMI(perhaps I will be banned from blogging), but I just have to write it down. It all began with one of those random Theo questions:

Theo: Mom, do you have a penis?
Brock (before I could answer and in his most know-it-all voice): No Theo, Mommy has nuts.
Me: (laughing inside, game face outside) Actually, nobody has nuts. And then I explained all the parts with proper names and explained who has what parts and what we should call them and what we shouldn't :)and finished with 'got it'?
Both boys said: Got it!

A couple months ago I heard Brock tell Theo to push him in the nuts while pointing at his stomach - clearly the child has no idea what nuts are but has heard someone say it. I decided not to say anything to him because he ovbviously had no clue. Since we only use the word nuts when talking about the one's that grow on trees I'm thinking he heard it at school. Brock's favorite book is one of my old anatomy books, but I do my best to skim over the reproductive system :) Pretty fun stuff at the Jennings house, eh?

Legoland!

We just got back from a fun Spring Break visiting family and Legoland!

Playing at the Carlsbad beach a few blocks from our hotel. It was a little chilly, but still a huge improvment from the snow we had in Reno.

Lego creations, rides, lego building, playgrounds, star wars, aquarium...yup, Legoland is little boy heaven! I kept my expectations low for how long our day would last, but both boys did fantastic and we were there from 9:30am to 4:30pm! Mommy and Daddy were ready for happy hour and the pool when the day was done :) We spent a couple more nights at the hotel just swimming and playing. I must have been all pictured out after legoland, because I failed to take pics of much else the rest of the trip.

Digging for fossils.

Duplo Land

Brock got his driver's license!
Star Wars!

We were really suprised at how adventurous Brock was with the rides. I was stressed when he was in line for this one until I realized they had a slower setting for little guys. He was disappointed 'Mom, I didn't even go upside down' :) Then the roller coaster thrilled him. He only wanted to go once, but at the end of the day he said it was his favorite. On the ride home he was talking about it, 'My whole body was just shivering'

Theo found 'his friends'.

Brock could have spent all day in this room. They could build and race cars. The track timed the cars...pretty fun. Wouldn't it be nice to live in Theo's world - after every race he would raise his hands in victory and shout, 'I winned!'.

Next stop...the legoland sea life aquarium...are you tired yet? We were!

Showing off the lego set he picked! Goodbye Legoland!

Next stop, Grandma Daphne's where we spent hours lounging by the pool and chatting :)

Finally, we spent our last night at Aunt Cathy and Jim's house. Cathy took us to a super fun park, unlike any park you will ever find in Reno! We had so much fun visiting everyone - thank you!
